Women's Shearling & Sheepskin Boots

Women's shearling boots from Babylon are handmade at our family-owned factory, where we have been making shoes since 1997. You will find classic double-face sheepskin boots, lace-up pairs, nubuck slip-ons with natural fur inside and one model with a faux fur lining. Here is how to choose the shape that suits your day, how they fit and what to wear them with.

Slip-on, lace-up or classic: which women's sheepskin boots suit you?

Start with how you live in winter, not with the colour. The lines differ more in shape and fastening than in warmth: the product pages rate all of them down to −20 °C.

• If you take your shoes off often. MARY are slip-ons in genuine nubuck with natural fur inside and a light, hard-wearing sole, assembled by hand. MARY-84 comes in a chocolate colour.
• If you want a classic shape. Frost is double-face sheepskin with a genuine leather heel counter and tongue insert, a fur-covered insole and a light EVA sole. See Frost-94. UG is plain double-face sheepskin with dense fur and a lightweight sole, for example UG-1-44.
• If your streets are icy. Polar has wide laces, a fur inner lining and a stable, lightweight sole with an anti-slip tread. See Polar-11.
• If you prefer no natural fur inside. Nestle has a genuine nubuck upper with a faux fur lining and a TPE sole. Sizes are limited, so check the product page.

Double-face sheepskin or nubuck with fur: what is the difference?

Double-face sheepskin is a single material: the skin is tanned with the wool left on, so leather is outside and fur inside, with no glue or fabric between them. It breathes and keeps warm air around the foot. Frost, UG and Polar are made this way.

MARY and Nestle have a nubuck upper and a separate lining. Nubuck has a fine, velvety surface and holds its shape well. Both materials need a protective spray before the season and a soft brush after wet days; see our guide to cleaning nubuck and suede.

How should women's shearling boots fit?

Women's models come in EU 36–41. Choose by foot length in centimetres: measure in the evening, standing, and compare with the chart in our size guide, where you will also find US and UK sizes.

• A firm fit is normal. Dense fur fills the boot. New pairs feel snug and the fur settles slightly with wear, so do not size up "for space".
• Thin socks. Sheepskin is warmest against a thin sock or bare skin.
• Slip-ons vs laces. Slip-ons like MARY should hold the heel without slipping. Lace-up Polar can be tightened around the ankle.

Every model is built on its own anatomical last, so if one Frost fits you, another Frost will fit the same way.

What to wear with shearling boots

Sheepskin boots are relaxed by nature, so they look best with simple, warm pieces.

• Leggings and knitwear. The classic pairing: slim legs, a long jumper or a knit dress, a quilted coat.
• Skinny or straight jeans. Tuck slim jeans in, or wear straight jeans over the shaft.
• Wool coats. A smooth Frost in a dark shade, or nubuck MARY, sit well with a long wool coat.

How to look after your boots through the winter

Dry wet boots at room temperature, away from radiators and heaters, and stuff them with paper so they keep their shape. Brush off salt and dirt once dry. Do not put sheepskin in a washing machine. Treat the outside with a protective spray for suede and nubuck before the first snow, and repeat it during the season.
