Can sneakers handle −20 °C?
Yes, if there is sheepskin inside: the Space-D product pages give +5 to −20 °C. Fur-lined pairs suit a city winter with short walks, and Winterfrost 500 insulation keeps you warm down to −15 °C. For long walks in snow, men's sheepskin boots are more comfortable.
Alen-X and LEGION: Respira or Winterfrost 500?
Respira is an Italian lining leather that breathes — for spring, autumn and mild winters. Winterfrost 500 is insulation between the upper and the lining that keeps you warm down to −15 °C. You choose the lining on the product page, under the sizes.
How are felt sneakers different from fur-lined leather ones?
Italian wool felt keeps warmth in and lets air through, with a wool or flannel lining to choose from. Felt pairs are lighter, but avoid puddles and slush in them — leather or nubuck is better there.
Do winter sneakers get wet?
Leather and nubuck treated with a water-repellent spray handle snow and wet pavements. Deep slush is not for sneakers — on those days men's leather boots with a high lugged sole are the better choice.

Winter sneakers are for men who would rather keep a familiar sneaker shape than switch to boots when it gets cold. This section brings together Babylon men's sneakers with warmth built into the construction: sheepskin inside, fur or insulation instead of a summer lining, or wool felt in the upper. Every pair is made by hand at our family-owned factory, in EU sizes 39–45.
What is in this section
- Double-face sheepskin. Space-01-D, Space-02-D and Space-04-D are made of double-face sheepskin (shearling): one piece of sheepskin — leather outside, natural wool inside, no separate lining. The insole is wool-covered too, the TPE sole is 3.5 cm high, and the product pages give a range of +5 to −20 °C.
- Fur-lined. 1654-11 and 1654-24 are low-top sneakers in genuine nubuck with a faux fur lining and a hard-wearing TPE sole that stays flexible in the cold.
- High-tops with a choice of lining. Space-X and Breakout-11: Respira (an Italian lining leather) or fur at the same price. Eclipse-44: Respira or natural fur. Alen-X and LEGION: Respira or Winterfrost 500 insulation.
- Italian wool felt. Alen-V, Mexico-V and the high-top Breakout-V-12, with a wool or flannel lining to choose from. Season on the product page: autumn, winter and spring.
Sheepskin, fur or Winterfrost?
Double-face sheepskin is the warmest option if you walk a lot or wait outside for transport. Fur in the high-top Space-X and Breakout suits a city winter of short walks between the metro and the office. Winterfrost 500 is insulation placed between the upper and the lining: the pair stays light and keeps you warm down to −15 °C. Respira is leather that breathes, so keep it for spring, autumn and mild winters. Felt holds warmth and wicks moisture but does not like puddles — in slush, choose leather or nubuck treated with a water-repellent spray.
For deep snow, try our men's sheepskin boots or men's leather boots with a lugged sole.
How to choose your size
Measure your foot in the evening, standing, in the socks you will wear with the pair, and compare it with the size chart on the product page: the fitting allowance is already built in, so there is no need to size up for the fur. Care
Treat the upper with a water-repellent spray before the first wear. Wipe smooth leather with a damp cloth after a walk; brush nubuck and felt dry.
