Women's Winter Shoes & Boots

Women's winter shoes from Babylon are made by hand at our family-owned factory, where we have been making footwear since 1997. The section covers fur-lined nubuck and suede boots, wool felt boots, sheepskin boots and high-top sneakers with a fur lining. Below we sort them by the kind of winter day they are made for and by what goes on inside.

What kind of winter do you need shoes for?

• Frosty days and long walks. Sheepskin boots and fur-lined slip-ons. MARY, Frost, UG and Polar are rated down to −20 °C on their product pages.
• Office, city centre, public transport. Fur-lined ankle boots such as Glori and Verona, or wool felt Cloud: warm, but neat enough for trousers and dresses.
• Mild, damp winters and early spring. Cloud boots are made for autumn, winter and spring. High-top sneakers with the Respira leather lining also work in cooler weather.
• Casual days in sneakers. High-tops with natural fur, or our women's fur-lined winter sneakers.

Fur, sheepskin, felt or faux fur: what is inside?

What keeps you warm is the inside, so it is worth reading the composition on each product page.

• Double-face sheepskin. Frost, UG and Polar: the wool stays on the skin, so leather and fur are one material. Warm and breathable.
• Natural fur lining. MARY, Verona, Glori, Mellow and Eclipse-64 have a separate natural fur lining under a nubuck, suede or leather upper.
• Wool felt. Cloud has an Italian felt shaft on a genuine leather base, with Italian wool inside.
• Faux fur. The 1654 nubuck sneakers and Nestle boots have a faux fur lining, for those who prefer it.
• Your choice on high-tops. Space-X and Alen-X come with the Italian Respira leather lining or natural fur (at the same price on some models, for a surcharge on others).

Nubuck, suede or smooth leather in snow?

Smooth leather is the easiest to clean after salt and slush. Nubuck and suede look softer and warmer but need a protective spray before the season and a brush after wet days. Eclipse-64 high-tops have a liquid rubber coating on the toe and heel, which protects the places that wear first. Verona models come with a chunky sole, and Cozy-14 has a zip and a deep-tread sole. How do women's winter shoes fit?

Women's models come in EU 36–41; some colours are available only in selected sizes, shown on the product page. Measure your foot length in centimetres and compare it with our size guide, which also lists UK and US sizes. Cloud is on a standard last and fits true to size. Space-X high-tops are on an anatomical, full-width last. Fur-lined and sheepskin pairs feel snug when new, because the fur settles with wear, so there is no need to size up.

Every pair is made by hand by our own craftsmen and shoe technologists, and each model has its own last. We sell from our factory straight to you, with no distributors or retailers in between, so the price is fair for genuine leather, fur and handwork.
