Men's Leather Boots

Our men's leather boots are made for the cold half of the year: genuine leather and nubuck uppers, a sole with real grip, and a lining you choose when you order. Every pair is cut and stitched by hand at our family-owned factory, where we have made shoes since 1997. The range has three lines, each with a different job: Armor, Armor-Low and Washington.

Which men's leather boots suit your winter?

Start with how you spend a cold day. The lines differ in height, sole and look more than in quality, because all of them are built the same way at the same workbenches.

• Armor. High boots in genuine leather on a chunky sole with a deep tread. Around the base of the sole there is a liquid-rubber coating, a Babylon technique that shields the join from slush. Models include Armor-24, Armor-11 and Armor-18.
• Armor-Low. The same family cut lower, with speed hooks for quick lacing and a TPE sole with a ridged tread. The lower part is coated, the heel counter is suede or nubuck. Armor-Low-12 is made in genuine nubuck.
• Washington. A cleaner, classic boot in genuine leather with Italian metal hardware and a leather-covered insole of soft foam rubber, for example Washington-41.

Insulated leather boots or a leather lining?

Armor and Armor-Low are offered with two linings. You pick one on the product page.

• Respira. An Italian lining leather that lets the foot breathe. This is the standard version and suits autumn, mild winters and spring.
• Winterfrost 500. A synthetic insulation placed between the upper and the lining, available for a surcharge. For this version the product page gives a range from +5 to −15 °C. It is insulation, not a membrane, so it keeps warmth in rather than making the boot sealed against water.

Washington comes with a Respira lining, and there is also a fur-lined insulated version. If your winters regularly drop below −15 °C, or you stand still outdoors for long periods, look at our men's shearling boots as well.

How do the soles handle snow and slush?

Armor uses a chunky sole with a deep tread that bites into packed snow. The liquid-rubber coating around its base protects the area where upper and sole meet, which is usually the first place to suffer from salt and wet. Armor-Low sits on a TPE sole with a ridged tread: lighter underfoot and well suited to city pavements. Our soles are made to order for us, so the shape matches each model's last.

Leather, embossed leather or nubuck: what is the difference?

Smooth leather is the easiest to keep tidy in winter: wipe off salt marks, let it dry and apply cream. Embossed leather hides small scuffs well. Nubuck has a soft, matt surface and needs a brush and a protective spray; our guide on cleaning nubuck and suede covers the routine.

How should men's winter boots fit?

All men's boots in this section come in EU 39–45. Every model has its own anatomical last, so measure the length of your foot in centimetres and check it against the chart for that model. Measure in the evening and, for an insulated pair, in the socks you will actually wear. The size guide converts EU sizes to UK and US.

A good winter fit holds the heel firmly and leaves a little room in front of the toes. A boot that is too tight presses the insulation flat and feels colder.
