Women's Fur-Lined Winter Sneakers

Winter sneakers keep the easy shape of an everyday sneaker but add fur inside, so you can wear the same relaxed style when the temperature drops. Ours are made by hand from genuine nubuck and leather, with natural fur, faux fur or a lining you choose when ordering. They are lighter than boots and sit well with jeans, wide trousers and a down jacket.

Are fur-lined sneakers warm enough for winter?

For a city winter, yes: walking to work, errands, public transport, a weekend in town. The fur lining surrounds the foot and the nubuck upper keeps the wind out. Sneakers sit lower and lighter than boots, so they suit days with cleared pavements rather than deep snow.

Natural fur, faux fur or a lining you choose?

The models in this section use three approaches to warmth.

• Natural fur, always. Mellow-11 and Mellow-24 pair premium genuine nubuck with natural fur. Eclipse-64 is a fur-lined high-top in nubuck with smooth leather inserts.
• Faux fur. The 1654 sneakers, such as 1654-84, combine genuine nubuck with a faux fur lining. They are designed in-house and made by hand.
• Your choice. On the Space-X and Alen-X high-tops you pick Respira, a breathable Italian lining leather, or natural fur — at the same price on some models, for a surcharge on others. The same design then covers either the warm or the cold months.

Low-top or high-top winter sneakers?

Low-tops such as Mellow and 1654 are quick to put on and look closest to an ordinary sneaker. High-tops cover the ankle, which keeps out wind and the snow that gathers at the edge of a path. They also hold the foot more securely.

Which sole works best on cold pavements?

• TPE. Thermoplastic elastomer, used on Eclipse-64, Space-X and the 1654 line. On 1654 the product page describes it as hard-wearing and cold-resistant.
• Rubber. The Alen-X sole is flexible and hard-wearing.
• EVA. Mellow sits on EVA, which keeps the pair light.

Eclipse-64 also has a liquid-rubber coating on the toe and heel, which protects the nubuck where it meets wet snow most often.

How do you keep nubuck sneakers looking good in winter?

Spray new nubuck with a protector before the first wear and renew it through the season. After a wet walk, stuff the sneakers with paper and let them dry at room temperature, away from a radiator, then lift the nap with a nubuck brush. What size should you order?

Women's winter sneakers come in EU 36–41. Measure your foot length in centimetres in the evening, wearing the socks you plan to wear, and compare it with the chart for the specific model. Each model has its own anatomical last; Space-X is made on a full-size anatomical last. The size guide converts EU to UK and US sizes.
