Men's High-Top Sneakers

Our high top sneakers for men are built for most of the year: genuine leather and nubuck uppers, a collar that covers the ankle, and a lining you pick for the season. Each pair is cut and stitched by hand at our family-owned factory, where we have made shoes since 1997. Many of the models are shaped with wide feet in mind.

Why choose high-top sneakers over low-tops?

A high collar gives the ankle more support from the side and keeps out wind, rain spray and slush in the cooler months. High-tops also look a little more substantial, so they pair naturally with heavier clothes: raw denim, chinos, cargo trousers, a wool overshirt or a parka. Do these high-tops fit wide feet?

Yes, for most of the range. The product pages for Space-41, the Space-X models and LEGION state that they suit wide feet. The Alen-X models are made on an anatomical last shaped for wide feet. Every Babylon model has its own anatomical last, so the fit is checked per model rather than averaged across a range.

Sizes run EU 39–45. Measure the length of your foot in centimetres in the evening and compare it with the chart for that particular model. If you plan to choose an insulated lining, measure in a thicker sock. The size guide converts EU to UK and US sizes.

Leather or Winterfrost lining: which high-tops work in winter?

The lining is what turns a spring pair into a winter one. Our men's high-tops use three set-ups.

• Respira only. Space-41 has Respira, a breathable Italian lining leather, for spring, early autumn and mild days.
• Respira or Winterfrost 500. On Alen-X and LEGION, for example Alen-09-X and LEGION-18, you can order Winterfrost 500 insulation for a surcharge. It sits between the upper and the lining and adds warmth without fur.
• Respira or fur, same price. On Space-X, Eclipse and Breakout you choose between Respira and a fur lining at no extra cost, for example Space-24-X.

Which men's high-top sneakers protect against scuffs?

Eclipse and Breakout have a rubber-coated toe that protects the upper from knocks and kerbs. Eclipse uppers are genuine smooth leather with a foam rubber insole; Breakout is genuine nubuck on a TPE sole.

How do you care for leather and nubuck high-tops?

Most of these models combine two materials, so care them separately. Wipe smooth leather with a damp cloth and feed it with cream. Brush nubuck dry and protect it with a spray. Always dry the pair at room temperature, not on a radiator. More detail is in our guide to cleaning nubuck and suede.
